Summer's over and it was a busy one around here!  Needless to say it really feels like Sydney JUST graduated from Kindergarten yesterday but it is in fact time for her to start a new journey in 1st grade.

We met her teacher last Thursday night.  Her name is Mrs. Michael's and seems to be so very nice (not to mention the talk about her from other parents is stellar).  

Sydney was so ready to start school this year (must get this from her daddy because school was NEVER exciting to me).

She had her outfit picked out, lunch ready and backpack packed.  

All she needed was a yummy breakfast - check!

So then it was time to get my baby ready and out the door to start another year...

Here's to another great year Sydney!!  We love you and are so proud!

First Haircut...

This afternoon I took Sydney to get her haircut before she started school.  I had no intention of getting Casey's haircut (even though Daniel thought it should have been done months ago) but for whatever reason she demanded that she get a haircut too!

So I let them cut off my babies hair!  Okay only about 1.5 inches but it felt like more...

Not my baby anymore huh?

Sea Turtles...  

After a couple of days in the sun we decided that today we would just take a break from the beach and headed to the sea turtle preserve.  Kale LOVES turtles so he was really excited and so were the rest of us.  

The preserve on SPI helps any and all turtles so they had some that were ill with turtle herpes (don't ask), some that had been attacked by sharks and required special prosthetic "limbs" to help them swim and even TINY little baby turtles (if they wouldn't grow to be 400lb monster turtles I would have smuggled one out!).  

It was really a cool place to visit...

Having lived in Texas more in my life then anywhere else (1994-1997 and 2002-now) it still amazes me that we have NEVER taken advantage of the Texas coast before.  We now know we will be yearly vacationers in South Padre Island! 

This morning we loaded up both Vehicles and hit the road for a nice 5 hour drive to SPI!
