Yes it is that time of year again and last night Daniel and I thought it was time to show Sydney and Casey what fairs were all about. We took the girls to the Comal County Fair and had a really good time.

So last weekend we went next door to the Braun house and had a great dinner. Bedtime was fast approaching and all 4 kids were in need of a bath. So how could we resist the ginormus (Not sure if that is a word but I like it!!!) bathtubs that we have been blessed with so here is a little shot of how cute they were...
All the kids thought it was great to get to splash more than just their sibling (yes I am the person they liked splashing most). Gotta love being a kid huh???

I was messing with my phone earlier and look what was hiding on there...
This is me waiting to have my Gallbladder removed. I don't remember being that happy - I was actually scared to death!!! Now I look back at this photo and laugh - I am such a wimp!

Anyone that has ever lived in South Texas knows that fall is not a huge change in the temperatures around here but even the slightest drop is so exciting. The days and nights are getting a little cooler and every place you go into smells like Autumn. Today at Target Sydney saw these window clings and had to have them. I was so excited that she spotted them because I love decorating for fall!!!
Notice that she is still in a tank top and shorts - I said it was getting cooler not that it was actually cool!!!!
Happy Fall to everyone!!!

This morning I crawled into bed with Sydney and we were just spending some time cuddling. I told Sydney that she was so very special to me and she replied with "I know" I said, "Oh really well then do you know just how special you are?" Without out a second thought she replied " I AM SOOOO SPECIAL that you would even buy me at the store and for only $16." I had to make her repeat it because sometimes it baffles me the funny stuff she says!! Of Course I had to tell her that things as special as her can't be bought at stores. Being a mother is tough at times but these are the moments that make it all worth it!!!!

When I was little I remember one thing my father used to do all the time - He would stick food to our foreheads. It didn't matter what it was - I remember those candy circus peanuts being a piece of "head jewelry" the most often. So this morning you can imagine my surprise when Sydney said "Mommy look - I am just like Grandpa" and when I turned around I saw this...
She had licked a Corn Pop and stuck it right on her head. I know my father had done this to her (Daniel and Alisia may be the only two people in the entire family whose head he hasn't stuck food too!!!) but I never thought she would have remembered it!!! So of course I laughed for a while and then I did what any mother would do - I stuck one to my head and Casey's.
I'll spare you the picture of me at 7:30am - at least the girls look cute first thing!!!
Thanks Daddy for always sticking food to our heads and keeping humor in our hearts!!!! We love you very much!!!

We usually put Casey in her highchair while we are cooking and she colors with her markers - It keeps her busy and lets us get stuff done. I don't think this has ever happened before she's gotten her food down though...
HaHaHa... I wish I could fall asleep like that!

On Saturday afternoon I was feeling pretty terrible I had just woken up and I also had a low grade fever. Sydney had just come home from the neighbors house and was so excited to come and see me. So into the bedroom she came and she propped her little butt right next to me and examined my bandages - after her approval that everything looked good she said "Look what I made for you mommy!" and held this up...
She said "I even know what it says G-E-T-W-E-L-L. That says Feel Better mommy!!" It was the sweetest thing and no matter how much I didn't want to laugh (because it hurt so bad) I couldn't help myself!! There was also a GET WELL card from her and Adelaide made me both also. Sweet kids huh?

Well it's officially over with - At least the surgery part. Now to get rid of the pain! Aside from the dr. running 1 1/2 hours late everything went excellent! I don't remember much about last night other than some incredible pain. The pain meds don't seem to work as well as I'd like them to but they do knock me out so I can just sleep through the pain. I'm extremely sore and haven't left my bed since I got into. Daniel has been amazing - not only is he dealing with both crazy kids but now he is also dealing with me the biggest baby of them all!!! I will try to move around more as the day goes on and I can shower soon so at least I have that to look forward to. My amazing neighbors not only brought a homemade coffee cake (yummy), flowers, diet cherry coke ( my favorite) and some movies - they also took Sydney so she can play with Adelaide! Thanks so much Braun Family!! Nothing like good friends!
Hurricane Ike turned out to bring nothing at all to San Antonio which is great for everyone here. Unfortunetly it did hit by Houston pretty hard. Hopefully for them it isn't as bad as it looked!
Ok medicine is kicking in so off to sleep for me. Thanks again to everyone for calling and checking on me!!! You are all so thoughtful.

Sydney has a Dr. set that we bought to make her a little bit more comfortable with doctors when she was younger. After the discussions of mommy having surgery Sydney pullled it all out last night and was doing her own "check-up" on me. This morning Casey found the stuff and I thought this was the most adorable thing ever...
She looks like a little Harry Potter - I still laugh everytime I look at it!

Ok so where to start - As most of you know I have recently lost 50 lbs but not without consequence. I started having some serious upper abdominal pain in late Feb - right after starting Weight Watchers. Of course being my typical self I ignored it until it became so unbearable that it was effecting my everyday life. In early June I was referred to a Gastroenterologist. They found out that I indeed had a problem and it was a gallstone the size of a large grape. I of course again put off seeing the general surgeon because - Hello I don't want surgery!!! But the pain came back and it is worse than ever! I also found out in my yearly physical for work that because of the serious complications that can arise from having gallstones that unless I had my gallbladder removed I would not be able to do Air Traffic Control anymore - I guess those are two great reasons to get it over with!!
On this Friday afternoon at 2pm I am scheduled to have the surgery. It is done laproscopically - they will poke 4 small holes into my stomach. One for the camera, two for the tools and the other to actually pop my gallbladder out. It is supposed to take 1 hour and then after 1 hour in recovery I should be on my way home. Thank goodness for outpatient procedures!!!! I will keep everyone updated when I fell well enough. Probably by Saturday afternoon... Which is just in time for Hurricane Ike to crash into south Texas and scare us all.
All we know right now is that it is headed directly for the Texas coast and could possibly be a Category 4 when it hits land. That isn't great for SA - we are only two hours inland so at that strength we would still get some hurricane strength winds and heavy heavy rainfall. We are pretty confident we can weather the storm here in our "fortress" but only Ike knows what is going to happen!!!
So this weekend has a lot in store for the Cobbs and none of it is going to be fun!!!!

Every little girl remembers twirling in their dresses until you thought you were going to fall down. So I have always tried to get Sydney to do it and it would happen halfheartedly for a few minutes but then she got her new "ballerina" dress. Adelaide was over yesterday and the girls were playing dress-up and this was the first time I have seen Sydney just twirl and twirl. She was laughing the whole time and yelling "Mommy watch me twirlin'. I'm so good at this"
