Mommy when????

Sunday, December 28, 2008

When does Grandma get here - When, Mommy When?
This is all I have been hearing for the last few days.  The excitement of Christmas has passed and Sydney has turned ALL her attention to my mothers visit on the 5th of January.  I can't blame her but I understand the concept of ONE WEEK so to help Sydney understand we did a little craft project today!!

Look at the concentration  - she sticks her tongue out when she is really focused.
8 Links left - she will rip one off each morning and when there is one left Grandma will come that day!!!
This should make the wait a little easier for her - or at least I now have a way to deflect her constant questions !!

Getting old...

Friday, December 26, 2008

I will admit that 29 isn't exactly ancient but it sure feels like I'm quickly approaching that mark!!  Just think Audra 1 tiny little year until we are in our 30's - AAAGGGHHH!!  But you will be 30 first - Even if it is only 2 days!! HAHAHAHA!!
Happy Birthday to you Cousin I hope you had a great day surrounded by your family!!!  I miss and love you very much!

Just a quick thanks to EVERYONE who called, texted, sent cards, sent or gave gifts!!  You are all so very thoughtful and helped make a day that is so easily overshadowed by the Holidays standout for me!!!

I love you all very much!!!

Merry Christmas

My Christmas Poem...

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

T'was the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Except for Mommy - but she is quiet as a mouse!

The stockings are fat with toys and goodies
The milk & cookies are set
My girls are soundly sleeping
Dreaming sweetly I'll bet!

The anticipation is building
To see their faces shine
Let the frenzy begin
Sorting, tearing & a "hey that's mine"!

When all is said and done
A cuddle and a kiss
And a THANKS to everyone
It's magical times like this we NEVER want to miss!!!

Here are some photos from today and this evening in preparation for Santa...

Casey Morgan - She is ready for Santa...

Sydney picked out this plate for Santa's goodies...

And here it is Cookies, Apples, Carrots and His note - OH - but she forgot something for me to write on the note!!!

Here is the note totally finished!!!

And here is a proud little girl SOOOOOO ready for Santa to visit her!!!

Christmas Spirit...

Monday, December 22, 2008

I love the things during the Holidays that are just full of spirit and meant for other people to enjoy!  That is exactly what we found last night...

We drove over to an area called Windcrest - just a normal older neighborhood any other time of year but during the holidays they go all out decorating their homes.  They do it knowing that for a few weeks coming and going from their homes will be an ordeal because the streets are packed with people adoring their hardwork.  It was amazing... here are some pics of the homes.
This is the first place winner for creative lighting...
I took this one because we immediately thought of Chevy Chase in the movie "Christmas Vacation"... It looks pretty though!
I liked the red and white!
This is Casey very shortly after entering the neighborhood...
And here is Sydney when we are about to leave - I guess all the excitement got to her!
I have a small video of the home that has their lights set to music but it won't uplaod this morning - I'll try again later!!

Yummy Cookies...

Sunday, December 21, 2008

Every year I make cookies - but this is the first year I ventured into the cookie cutter, decorating kind of cookie making.  This afternoon Daddy was out to see some friends from out of town and Casey was sleeping off her little fever (just in time for Christmas - Yay!!) so Sydney and I put on our chef hats and went to work.
Sydney waited as patiently as possible as I cut out all the cookies...
These are my examples to Sydney on how to put icing on a cookie.
Simple right...
And she is off...  I let her do it her way and just kept on cutting and baking...
Here are her individual masterpieces...  WHOA!!!
Even though each cookie has enough icing for 5 cookies and they are sooo sweet they make your teeth ache it was well worth the time that Sydney and I got to spend together today!!!  She has already decided which ones Santa will get and promises to "CRY BIG TIME!"  if anyone eats them.  Alright time for me to go put away our 3 dozen cookies before Sydney eats them all!!

Wrapping Presents...

Saturday, December 20, 2008

I think that I am going to start a new tradition in the Cobb Home!!  NO MORE GIFT WRAPPING!!!  I used to like it - there was even some excitement surrounding it.  You know you have the perfect gift for that special someone and then you get to creatively wrap it and anticipate their reaction when they unwrap it.  Well when you are wrapping gifts for 3 people plus extended family and friends - it gets to be a bit much!  I have spent the last few hours wrapping and wrapping - oh and did I mention I did some wrapping? And the absolute kicker is that I thought I saw a light at the end of the tunnel and then I walked into the office and realized that I had hardly started!! Either I am really slow or my family is EXTREMELY  SPOILED!!!  HA - I am gonna go crazy before I get to see my babies (Daniel included) open their gifts in just a few days!!!

Hopefully they will all LOVE the stuff they tear the paper off of and the sore back and bad attitude I've got will be a distant memory!!!

Movie Night..

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

Tonight Dawn and I decided to take our girls (just Sydney for me - no way would Casey make it through a movie) to the movies and watch Disney's new movie Bolt!!  Both girls were so excellent and the movie was very cute!!  AND it was another excuse to eat popcorn - like I need an excuse for that!!!  Sydney hasn't stopped talking about it since we got home and has already pleaded with me to buy it as soon as it appears on DVD!!

I have a felling we will be doing this pretty often!!!

Getting ready for Girl's Night out...
At least it is a cute pic of Sydney - I look drunk... HAHAHA!!!

Stockings...

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

So I thought it was time to buy us some matching stockings for our mantle and I did just that!!

I found this adorable set and ordered them back before Thanksgiving but with the personalization and the whole backorder issue they didn't arrive until today!!!

At least they got here for Christmas! Sydney helped me decide what stocking everyone would get so she was really excited when they got here.  Here is a look at our mantle now...

I got Mrs. Claus!! ( her feet are missing so I am on the phone as I type trying to get that fixed)
Casey got the Snowman with Ski Poles....
Sydney got the Penguin with a snow shovel...
And of course Daddy is Santa!!!

Beautiful Family...

Monday, December 15, 2008

I saw this picture and thought it was amazing so I "stole" it to share!
How great do Alisia and Christopher look?  But the little guy once again has stolen the show!!  Always so sweet and happy - Kale Bryce you warm my heart!!
We miss you guys so much!!!

Christmas Party...

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Daniel and I got our favorite (and only) babysitter in the world last night - Joy - and we went to his Fire Dept. Christmas party!!!  It was a GREAT time.  Good company, Good Food, GREAT drinks and some really funny gag gifts!!!  After dinner we went to a couple of different bars called Dolce and Swig which were both awesome but it made us realize that we are getting to OLD for bar hopping!!!  Everyone else was just starting to show up when we were both ready to head out!! We're not such crazy party animals anymore huh??

An Early Christmas Gift...

And it's edible at that!!!!

Have I told you lately that my neighbor Dawn  is AMAZING!!!  Well she is and this is one of the MANY reasons why!!!

She sent us a gift from "Wine Country Gift Baskets" that is filled to the top with all these great goodies and the absolute best part they are mostly CHOCOLATE.  She knows me all too well!!!
Thanks SO MUCH Dawn!!  What would I do without you to supply my chocolate habit???!!!

Snow...

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Yes that is right snow...

We had a pretty hefty cold front move through last night and with it came some rain/sleet or so we thought.  We also got a little smidgen of snow.  On our way out this morning I looked back at the house and this is what I saw...

I know it is nothing really but it is snow and we live in SOUTH TEXAS!!!  Apparently north of San Antonio where some of my coworkers live they had a small accumulation on the ground.
Anyway Sydney was so excited because we have always told her it doesn't snow in Texas.  This morning she was thrilled to tell me, "Mommy I told it would snow in Texas.  Because it is Christmas!"
Every building we passed every little bit on the ground made her smile and scream "SNOW"
What would she do if it snowed a foot???
Oh and not to worry by this weekend we are supposed to be back in the mid 70's.  Not such a Christmas feel wearing t-shirts and flip flops!!!

Elf Yourself...

Tuesday, December 9, 2008

I was browsing through other peoples blogs the other day and I came across this website -

I had done this last year but I thought that I would give it another shot.  So I took pictures of Sydney, Casey, Adelaide and Alasdair and ELFED them!!  You have to check it out it is SOOO funny!!!  Click on the link below and sit back and enjoy...

Chritmas Tree..

Thursday, December 4, 2008

Finally got it up and finished!!!  We went with a red and green kind of theme!!  I wish we could have fit our star on top but the tree is 9 feet tall and the ceilings are like 9.25  feet tall!!  No such luck but I put a pretty bow up there and it feels complete!

Take a peek...

Hope you are all having a great Holiday Season so far!!  We miss you all!!!

Xmas Pics...

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

As I already mentioned we took the girls in for Christmas Pictures...

Here is a little preview of them!!!

Casey had to lick every single "cookie" to see if they were real!
Even though you can't see Sydney very well I LOVE this picture!!
How Sweet?  And look at those Curls!!!
Yay!!! They are both smiling and looking at the camera...

Advent Calendar...

Monday, December 1, 2008

When I was young I will never forget the nights leading up to Christmas.  My brother and I always had an Advent calendar and every night we opened it and found a different shaped piece of chocolate.  I have looked for these for Sydney for the past few years and had no luck!  I could find ones that gave them a new little toy each night but I thought it was more special (and a little less materialistic) to get a little chocolate treat so I held out and hoped I would come across some.  I did - in a store called World market I found one from Germany and needless to say Sydney and I were thrilled.

So tonight she got to start eating her treats...  It was a toy train shape and she was thrilled!!  Thanks God for the simple things in this world - Just stay a child as long as possible Sweet Sydney!!!

Dancing Girls...

Sunday, November 30, 2008

I bought this singing Santa that when you press his button sings and slides all over the floor. Casey fell in love immediately and hasn't let it out of her sight yet.  I thought it was so cute how every time the music came on Casey and Sydney would dance around the house like crazy so I tried to capture a little of it... ENJOY!!!

Don't forget to PAUSE THE MUSIC on the bottom of the page so you can hear the video!!

Busy Busy Busy...

Saturday, November 29, 2008

Today was a crazy day from start to finish...

The girls had Christmas pictures at 9:30am - At first Casey wanted nothing to do with it but a switch flipped and she turned into a regular little supermodel!  Both girls did great and I can't wait to send the pictures out to everyone for the Holiday's!!

Daniel and I decided that we would put up Christmas lights on our house this year - first time ever!  So Daniel got out the ladder and climbed up onto the roof...

Sydney and  I watched Daniel do all the work while Casey took a much needed nap.  Half way through the project we realized that we hadn't bought enough lights for the house or the pond (you'll see what pond) and the Deer that we have had in previous years didn't survive the move to this house.  Anyway we ran to Wal-Mart got the stuff and came home and finished up our own little "Winter Wonderland"...

Here are a few pics of the outdoor decorations while it was still light outside...

Candy Cane Lane...

Our Front Door...

Snowman - He guards the door...
The Deer and Pond not so majestic looking during the day but...

At night we think it looks pretty good!!
Our very own little deer pond!
The Cobb House.
I love this picture of the girls looking our Sydney's window at their "DEEEER" (as Casey calls them).

I Think I am officially Crazy...

Friday, November 28, 2008

Last night I flipped through all the sale flyers and seriously considered getting up and going to the stores at 4am.  Then my senses kicked in and I decided against that CRAZY idea.  No No - why do that when I can just go this morning - Surely most people will be at home resting because they were up so early shopping! HA!

First I went into Toys R Us!!!  What was I thinking!!  I have never seen so many people - and they were SOOOO rude.  One of them even had the nerve to try and touch Sydney because she as standing nicely right in front of a toy they wanted.  I of course had to gently glide their hand away from my daughter and mention that it isn't smart to touch other peoples children and a simple "Excuse Me" would have worked just fine.  I think she was rather shocked because she just stood their with her mouth hanging open but maybe she'll remember that for the future.
As if that wasn't enough to make me RUN home I decided that Target might be a good choice.  NOT SMART!!!  It was crazy in there also!! Funny thing is the prices aren't even that great - Just small discounts!!
All this taught me is that I was stupid to think about taking a 4 and 1 yr old out on Black Friday in the rain.
Oh I did happen to get Kale and Peyton their Xmas presents, Sydney picked out a toy for Casey and I got some things I needed for around the house! So it wasn't a total bust!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
