Mommy and Sydney time...

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Sydney had a dental appointment this afternoon (which went perfectly and everything is just fine with her loose tooth and the rest of them for that matter!!) and I decided that Sydney and I needed to get pedicure's after.  So armed with a milkshake for Sydney and a sweet tea for mommy we went to my favorite nail salon and got pampered!!
Sydney sat so still and watched everyting.  She loved the massage on her little arms and legs so much I thought it was going to put her to sleep.  They let her pick out her color (blue - surprisingly) and her designs (polka dots and flowers) and she was in heaven!

Concentrating so hard to not touch anything and mess up her nails...

Her nails - not a great picture but you get the idea!
Her tiny little toes - complete with a little red rhinestone in the middle.
Our toes!  I think this will be something we do often!!

Mud Bugs, Friends and RockBand!!

We celebrated the Memorial Day weekend in Louisiana style tonight!  I have NEVER had the urge to eat crawfish - lots of work for SOOOO little reward but I gave in after all the neighbors said that a crawfish boil was so much fun.   It seemed that our fun might have been ruined by some random thunderstorms rolling through but our sights were set on a boil and that is exactly what we did.
Today there were 40lbs of LIVE crawfish hanging out on our back porch...
Don't be fooled they were so MAD that we kept opening the container and they were snapping those little claws trying to get anything they could - which was nothing but each other!!
The men all hung out on our back porch and cooked (which loosely translates into beer drinking) and all the ladies went next door to let the kids play.
After what felt like 12 hours the rain stopped and the crawfish were ready to be eaten...

Yes it was a lot of work for so little meat but it was really good!  There was sausage, corn, and potatoes in the mix also...
I don't even know what to say about this picture - he is so into his crawfish!!!
Dawn and I posing with our "mudbugs"...
Then Dawn attacking me.  My crawfish only had one claw - he was at a disadvantage!!
Sydney refused to hold this at first - something about Grandpa having a crab stuck on his nose in Las Vegas had her scared to death.  But she came around...
After we were all stuffed and the mosquitoes attacked us we came inside to ROCK OUT!!!
Here is Daniel, Dawn and, Husband and Wife duo, Waylen and Meredith!
A great time was had by all and I can't wait until we can all get together again!  I have the BEST neighbors!!!

Rainy afternoon...

Saturday, May 23, 2009

It was a stormy afternoon around here today and the girls NEEDED some outside time.  So I busted out this HUGE bottle of bubbles  we sat under the covered patio and they went to town.  Here are the pictures...

I showed Sydney how to blow BIG bubbles and this amazed her.
Not sure how I snapped this but I love it...
Then she figured it out for herself...
and even mastered catching her own bubbles...
Then there is Casey that only found joy in busting every bubble Sydney tried to blow!
Look at Casey waiting to pounce on that balloon...
Oh the simple things in life that kept them busy for an hour!!  I am buying 12 more bottles of those stinkin' bubbles!!!

Seriously...

I knew before having children that they would grow up but nobody told me that they grew up in warp speed!!
This morning I was greeted by a HUGE grin on Sydney's face.

"Mom do you wanna know something?  I have a loose tooth"

Of course at this point I bolted upright in bed and looked closely and I could see it - her bottom left tooth wasn't normal - I wiggled it and IT WAS loose!!  Hole Crap!!  Isn't she too young for her BABY teeth to be falling out?  I am not ready for her to have ADULT teeth!!
I of course googled the age that is normal for baby teeth to start falling out and average is 6 - but it is not normal for them to start falling out between 4 1/2 and 5 and girls start losing them sooner.  At her last dental appt they did tell me that her adult teeth were right there and ready to start their invasion but I of course thought he meant when she was no longer a baby - like at 25!!!  I'm sure you won't be surprised to find out that I have already called and tried to make a dental appt but they aren't in until Tuesday.

Here is a picture of Sydney tonight playing with her tooth!

A Roadtrip...

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Yesterday we set out on the road to head up to Oklahoma to see our niece graduate high school...  I meet Amber 8 Years ago as an 10 year old kid that hated me because she didn't want to share her Uncle Daniel.  Time's have changed and Amber has grown into an amazing young lady that has a bright future and if Daniel and I have our way she'll be in the Air Force before the summer is over... See daddy I should have been in recruiting also!!!
Amber and her FAVORITE Uncle...

Luckily while we were there we were able to see Peyton for the night.  She is getting so big and it is always hard to see that - I still see her as a little girl and now she is into boys and "Twilight".  We are VERY excited to see her later this summer!!
Sydney and Peyton eating dinner with the whole family!

It was great seeing everyone and letting the girls meet some of them for the first time.  Watching Amber graduate made me cry - feels like I was just there yesterday and now 11 years later I can see an amazing future for Amber.  The only downside of the whole trip was being rear-ended while driving through CRAZY Dallas traffic on the way home!  But not much more than a scratch on the bumper and we were just glad to escape unscathed!!
I was extremely BAD about taking pictures this trip and I got 3 - yes that was a 3.   But my last picture is of were Daniel grew up...
Pretty huh?  This is Lake Texoma - right down the road from Daniel's childhood home.

2 Years 1 Month...

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Forgetful Mommy forgot to make an appt years ahead of time so Casey didn't get her two year check-up until a month after her birthday!
Today the Dr. saw Casey and gave her a clean bill of health.  She is 36 inches tall and is tipping the scale at 33 lbs (which means she has grown 3.25 inches and gained about 6 lbs since Oct/Nov)  She is in the 95 percentile for both categories and the Dr said this was great! Both ears still look great and we are hoping we are past that baby ear infection stage but only time will tell.  Dr. Hagee was impressed with her speech - especially when she was listening to Casey's heart and Casey said "MY BOOBIES" because that is where the stethoscope was resting. Nothing else to report other than we have a perfectly healthy little 2 year old on hand - but we already knew that!

Our Sweet girl on Mother's Day 2009!

My Mother's Day...

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Let's see...

Woke up to my babies and some snuggles.

Yummy breakfast at Magnolia Pancake Haus -  they only make the BEST pancakes - I had
Oatmeal Cookie pancakes - YUMMY!!!

Handmade gifts from my girls...
Daniel surprised me with the MOST AMAZING perfume "Bond No.9" which can only be found at Saks!  Great taste huh??? I can't stop smelling my wrists AND a bonus - the bottle is really pretty...

We are going to relax the rest of the day and do some grilling for dinner.  But most importantly I am spending the day relaxing with my amazing girls and wonderful husband!
And what could be better than that?

To My Mother...

I have always loved Mother's Day. It's a day to make the most important woman in your life understand that the time, effort, sweat, tears, love and sometimes even blood she gives daily might seem unappreciated but in all actuality it is shaping you for bigger and better things in this world!!
I absolutely learned from the best!!  My mother is a truly selfless person that NEVER put her needs or wants in front of ours and showed us daily (even when we were TERRIBLE - mostly Christopher) that we were loved and special.  I adore my mother for she is not only my mother but a confidant, a best friend, a cheerleader and, the most important job she has as of late, the BEST grandmother to my babies!!  If I end up being half the mother to my girls that mom is to me my kids are lucky!!

Happy Mother's Day Mommy!!  We love you more than words can explain!!!

Early Gift...

Saturday, May 9, 2009

Today after swim and tumble the teachers gave all the kids roses to present to their Mother's!  It was so sweet to see their faces as they presented me with the flowers and the kisses and cuddles that followed were more than enough to make my whole weekend!!  Not to mention Sydney announcing to the whole building that "her mommy is probably the best mom around" - It got some protest from other children and some laughs from other parents and of course we had to talk about saying that to other kids but hey if that is how she feels I can't blame her for wanting to shout it from the rooftops!!

As Promised...

Saturday, May 2, 2009

When Syd started I said I'd post more pictures of her during swim lessons but I am usually in tumble class with Casey which makes it impossible to actually watch Syd or take any type of pictures.  Today we decided that since we have this "Swime Flu" panic in our area (please don't get me started on that topic) to just be on the safe side and not bring Casey to tumble.  That meant that I could bring Sydney just us and actually watch the progress she has made - it is amazing! When we started she was DEATHLY afraid of the water and now.  She is like a fish..

She has her very own goggles...
She goes underwater and stays there...
She floats on her back without assistance (she floated out to the teacher in this pic)!
Then she swims from the teacher to the side of the pool...
Sydney has already moved up from the beginner yellow team to the purple team and is a few skills away from moving up another level!  As she said yesterday "soon she will be swimming in contests and bringing home some really cool Metal Necklaces".  I'm pretty sure she meant Medal's but whatever keeps her motivated and happy while learning such an important skill.  That's what makes mommy and daddy happy!

Spoiled...

Friday, May 1, 2009

To say that about Daniel is so funny and so very untrue.  When it comes to material items Daniel takes a backseat (willingly of course) to me and the girls!!  He always wants his "girls" to have everything they need and want!  Well it was his turn to get something new!  So after a few months of debating the idea it was final Daniel wanted a big ole' Man Truck!  And seriously who am I to stand in the way of that - I am a Casey after-all we change vehicles like we change clothes!!!

And evidently luck was on our side because everything worked out amazingly well and Daniel is officially driving a Man Truck!!  It is soooo nice - there is more room for the kids and we now have the option of using it for family outings unlike the last one!!
Of course now I want to take the truck and let Daniel drive the "Soccer Mom" Volvo but I am suppressing the urge to commandeer his new toy - hahahaha!!
