Sooner Saturday!!!!

Saturday, August 30, 2008

In the Cobb house weekends are reserved for family activities and in the fall the only family activity that happens on Saturday's is college football!!!  More specifically Oklahoma Sooner Football!!! We are crazy fans - especially because we live in an area that is predominately Texas Longhorn fans - OU's biggest rival - BOO!!! So we proudly wear our Sooner gear and represent proudly - we may get some dirty looks and have even caught a few middle fingers in passing but it is worth it to us - especially when we beat them in the Cotton Bowl!!!  So here we go with another season that is sure to keep us on our toes and glued to the screen every Saturday!!     GO SOONERS!!!

Sydney and Casey all ready to cheer on the Sooners tonight!!!
Sydney was practicing a little cheer!!
Casey is so ready - for a nap!!!

Friends...

Last night we got to spend time with some of our closest friends - Gary, Jenny, Christy and Hayden!!  It is great that when they come down from Ohio that we get to visit with them!!  We love seeing Hayden (who is only 4 days younger than Casey) and how much he changes from visit to visit!!  Hopefully they'll get a chance and will move down here soon so when they have kids we can love on them like they do ours!!!

Gary and Jenny....
Sydney and Hayden...
Sydney was not really into the whole picture thing at 1030 at night!!!
Hayden- what a sweet little boy!!!
Christy hide from the camera and Casey was sound asleep - that kid doesn't kid around at bedtime!!!  We can't wait to see them all at Christmas time though and we hope they have a safe trip home!!!!
We'll miss you all!!!

Chocolate Heaven...

Sunday, August 24, 2008

The downstairs living room has always looked nice enough if you ask me but we did something this weekend that transformed it and quite frankly it makes me want to eat the walls...

This is what it was like before...

Nice right?  Notice the chocolate brown accents in the couch!
This is what it looks like now...
See why I said it makes you want to eat the walls!!  It looked like liquid chocolate before he put it on the wall!!!

Casey just had to get in the middle of the action - Such a little ham!!!!!  Anyway we are so amazed at how all the paint throughout the house has made the home feel so different but this room made us both step back and say "Wow!!"  We love how it tied in so perfect with the couch and also with the decorative pieces over the fire place.
Keep checking back  - we have already started painting the kitchen but I'm gonna wait until it is completely done before I post it.  It will surprise you all!!!

What????

Earlier in the week I got Sydney dressed in a cute "Little Pony" tank top and sent her off to school.  When I got home from work it was complete chaos so I said hello to the girls and when they calmed down I went over to give Daniel a hug and say hello.   All of a sudden Sydney is standing behind Daniel but in my line of sight and all I could see is that her shirt had fallen down off her shoulder's and exposed her future chest. She also had an absolute look of disgust on her face.  I laughed a little and this is the tounge lashing that I received...

"Mom why did you dress me in this it kept falling down all day and look at this..." she points at her chest in a way only Sydney could do and continues, "MY ZITS ARE SHOWING!!!  Is this what you wanted? No - I didn't think so." I laughed for 20 minutes.  No telling where she comes up with this stuff!!!

Our Love Bug...

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

When we decorated Sydney's room she had input about how she wanted it painted and what she wanted (of course we modified her outrageous suggestions).  But lucky for me Casey had no such input and I got to be a little girl again and decorate her room.  Unfortunatley Casey's room was a catch all for Sydney's old stuff and a few new things I had bought here and there.  So we thought is was about time to give her a "new" space all her own.

I have always loved Ladybug baby stuff and I found the absolute cutest set at Babies R' Us a few weeks ago and I knew that was what I wanted.  We also wanted to do something a little less pink but still with a girly twist - so here it is...

We hand painted the stripe all the way around the room because taping it off was to risky (it tends to rip the underneath paint straight off the wall) but it turned out amazing...

I wanted to do something different with Casey's name so it now fits with the whole ladybug theme...
Adorable huh?  I am so very proud of how both of the girls rooms turned out!!

Congratulations Daddy...

Monday, August 18, 2008

My father has once again impressed me with his work ethic and ability to shine on the job!! And it is quite obvious that it is not just impressing his family.  His commander (boss for all you nonmilitary folk) also saw the potential within.  He only started this job in March and has already received a three pay grade promotion.  Congratulations Daddy - we never doubted how deserving you were from the beginning!!!

My mom also deserves a congrats - she has been the best "military" wife there ever was and has supported all of my dad's ventures with unwavering support!!  One without the other would not work as well as they do together!!!

We love you both so very much and miss you even more!!!

Another paint project in the books...

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Anyone that has been into our home has probably noticed our entryway if not here is a picture of the "old" look...

So we thought we would do something in here to give the home a warm feeling right from the entrance so I picked out three different shades of brown and new light fixtures and this is what we got...

I could not be happier with the result.  It feels like a whole new house!! I still have a little clean-up to do on the crown moulding but I LOVE IT!!!  I have to be honest Daniel did all the work so he deserves all the credit - Thanks Honey!!!

Now for my turn behind the roller - I am starting Casey's room today!!! YAY!!!

Straight from Sydney's mouth...

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Sydney and Adelaide were sitting at the table eating lunch talking about how old they both were. Adelaide said she was 3 and at her next birthday she would turn 4 - Sydney replied with "you're lucky". Adelaide of course asked why and Sydney said exactly this "Cause at my next birthday I turn 5 and my daddy said at 5 I have to GET A JOB so I can pay my bills."
Daniel and I tease Sydney about this all the time but I never realized she thinks we're serious. How funny huh????

My baby...

But not so much a baby anymore...

After bath i usually brush Casey's teeth and she likes to hold onto the toothbrush after and "brush" her own teeth. So as usual she was sitting on the bathroom floor chomping away on her toothbrush and I was getting Sydney in her pj's. I turned around for two minutes and when I turned back around this is what I saw...

She had moved a stool over to the sink and climbed up there just like her big sister!  It was way too cute and she even stayed there so I could get the camera.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa...

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Sydney loves to help in the kitchen but as she says she has never had the right "outfit" for cooking. Now thanks to her amazing grandparents she has the entire "outfit".  Grandma and Grandpa sent her a new tea set and with it she received an apron, chef hat and her very own oven mitts!!!

She was soooo excited to wake up Sunday morning and make blueberry pancakes!!!  The best part was she helped with all of it and did not once burn herself - I, on the other hand,  burned myself twice!! Cooking is not my thing ;-)

The painting frenzy has started...

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Yesterday we started the huge task of painting our home to be a little more "ours".  The brown walls everywhere are killing us so we made a trip to Lowe's and Home Depot and found a whole world of possibilities and narrowed it down for some rooms...

First was Sydney's room.  We had to paint the ceiling white because pink and green just doesn't mix well with brown!!!

Casey played in her room but she got in on the painting action a little too!!!

Then came the pink paint!!! After two coats on opposing walls it was evident that we were definitely solidifying Sydney's title of Princess...

And we finished off the room by painting the other two walls green.  We also switched her bed and her dresser around and it made the whole room seem bigger.  Here is the finished product...

Thank goodness for the neighbors who took Sydney for the entire day so we could accomplish this and they also took us out to a great dinner afterward!! Thanks Braun family!!!
Keep checking back because as we paint more I will post pictures!!!

The Drama Queen Within...

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Sydney doesn't miss an opportunity to interject a little attitude into every single situation at hand.  Well on her birthday I was setting up her gifts and also putting out the Hello Kitty tablecloth and banner.  Sydney was running around so excited and I wanted to capture it - Not everyday she is happy about everything going on!!!  So I took out the camera and told her to stand still so I could get a "sweet" picture...

The above picture was the first attempt and since she was excited I knew it was bound to happen so I tried again - this is were her "Sydney attitude" came into play.  I told her to move over by me and to stand still so we can send a nice picture to everyone... Her exact response that came right as I snapped the below picture was  "Mommy listen - I am four now and I am an adult so I won't be smiling anymore.  Adults never smile!!!!"

Who does she get that attitude from - I guess Daniel! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Sydney's "New Sister"...

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

A couple weeks ago the home next to us sold and in moved the Braun Family...  We were all so excited to have new neighbors that are in a similar place in their life and not 100 years old - HAHA!  They have a 3 yr old little girl named Adelaide and an 8 mth old boy named Alasdair .  Sydney has absolutely found her "new sister" in Adelaide.  Every single day starts with a request for Adelaide to come over and play or my favorite "move into her room".  They are cute as can be when they play together.  But come time for them to part ways and Sydney is a mess!! She cries and cries and tries to explain that she "just loves Adelaide so much that they should get to play together forever mommy".  So I am sure that in the coming months and years there will be a path worn between out home and theirs.

7 Whole Years...

Sunday, July 27, 2008

That's right today is our 7 year anniversary.  I look back and am amazed at how swiftly the time has gone by.  What we have accomplished as of today were just dreams and aspirations 7 years ago.  Daniel is the most amazing husband I could have ever asked for.  I admire his ability to put up with me, his determination, strength, courage and also the sweet side that not many people see - especially where his wife and little girls are concerned.  I look forward to what tomorrow and the next 7 years bring with Daniel in my life!!!  I love you Baby!!!

What was I thinking...

Friday, July 25, 2008

Who in their right mind would pack up a 4yr old and a 15mth old and venture to the doctor's office all alone?  Me I guess...

Today the girls both had their well checkups and Daniel was at work so I took them all by myself.  From the start it seemed to good to be true - they were both smiling and laughing in the backseat all the way there.  Then we pulled into the parking lot and the switch flipped.  They both started whining - Sydney because she knew her fate once we were inside but Casey was doing it because she thought it was what she was supposed to be doing - I can't wait until this "copy my big sister" phase is over - in like 15 years!
After the seemingly 4 hour check-in and wait we saw the Dr.  Sydney is weighing in at 42lbs and is 3'6" tall.  She is in the 95% for her height and 90% for her weight so she is doing great. Sydney had to have hearing and vision tested and she passed with no problems.  She did have to get 4 shots and as you can imagine from that Drama Queen you'd have thought they amputated her legs on the spot.  And at this very moment she is laying on the couch watching cartoons because "it hurts so bad to walk mommy."
Casey is doing great.  The tubes are still in her ears but thankfully she hasn't had one problem since they were put in and the Dr. said they should fall out pretty soon as her ear canal matures more.  She is tipping the scale at 25lbs and is 32" tall.  That is the 90th percentile for both categories. Casey had three shots and other than a scream because it was a man giving them (she is selective with the men she allows around her) she was very good.  They made her extremely cranky tonight so it was off to bed early.
Both were thrilled when we left with stickers in hand or mouth depending on the child.
