All Good Things Must Come to an End...

Monday, August 31, 2009

Grandma and Grandpa left this morning and of course we have all been down in the dumps today!  We had a GREAT time with them here this past week and can't wait to see them again!

Here are some pictures from last night that I took while the girls just enjoyed spending time with them...

Grandma and Grandpa with  2 of their grand-babies!
Karate - payback for pulling her pants to her ankles 12 times!
Casey loves her Grandpa - they are comparing their scared faces!
What is with kids and their noses!!  She WON'T keep her fingers out...

Art????

Sunday, August 30, 2009

I went to put something away in Casey's room and this is what was waiting for me on the other side of her door!

Apparently Grandpa made this "art" that gave me a heart attack upon entering the room - I was not expecting to see this.  Funny thing is this stayed up ALL day - Neither kid messed with it.  I guess they can appreciate art huh?

Me...

Friday, August 28, 2009

I would like to start out by saying that I HATE pictures of myself and am only doing this for Alisia because mom said she wanted to see my new hair cut.  Alisia if this doesn't prove my love to you nothing will!!

For my birthday ( in Dec 08) Daniel bought me a day of pampering.  This package includes a Mani, Pedi, 1 hour Massage, Facial, Haircut and Makeup.  It's an all day thing and something that was MUCH needed!
Anyway I went in knowing that I was chopping my little past shoulder length hair off!  If my hair is long enough it ends up in a ponytail.  Plus it is so thick and heavy that any length and it just hangs there and looks horrible.  So I told the guy to give me a cut that was functional but would stop me from looking like a boring housewife  and he did just that!!!  About 4/5 inches later I hardly recognized myself!

Please know this picture was taken at the end of a long day and after spending a great night out with my wonderful Hubby - so if it looks bad it is because of heat, humidy and being SO tired!!!
Here it is!
I also figured I'd use this one because Christopher would be so proud that dad was picking up the slack of being the picture invader in his absence!
Thanks Mom and Dad for watching the girls and giving us the opportunity to go out!
We love you guys!

Casey Time...

Thursday, August 27, 2009

This week has been all about Sydney so far.  And with Grandma and Grandpa in town it was only fitting to take Casey out for a little fun and in this family shopping is our kind of fun!!!
So with Sydney off to school we headed out the door to the mall to Build-A-Bear for the very first time with Casey!
She picked out the Kitty...

She kissed the heart and helped stuff it...
She gave it a bath...
Got it dressed...
And here is her newest favorite "baby"...
What is a trip out without making your child put on funny sunglasses so we could all laugh at her - but she thought it was just as funny!
It was such a nice day out with Casey and the Grandparents!  Wish we could do it more often!

Twinkle Toes...

Monday, August 24, 2009

These are Sydney's favorite new thing we bought for school.  She says they make her a little bit like a "Rocker Girl"!
I love the name "Twinkle Toes" because that is what my Nana used to call me when I was Sydney's age!

The Day Has Arrived...

and it was a GREAT day!
Up early for a special breakfast that Sydney requested - eggs, bacon and biscuits.
She wanted a full belly so she would "learn better".
After breakfast she was ready to get into her carefully planned out outfit.
Disclaimer:  Please don't mind the dirty fridge in the background Casey had her breakfast all over her hands and transferred it.  It has been cleaned off since this picture was taken!  How Embarrassing!!!!

We double checked her lunch, got her backpack and then out the door we went...

In line for the BumbleBee class...
I still see a baby when I look at her sweet face!
Walking out the door - this is when you could hear nothing but all the mom's sniffling.  Our babies were leaving us!!!
and finally in class...
We were SO excited to pick Sydney up today  - we were like the little kids.  We had a million questions and she was excited to share.   She loved every minute and can't wait to go back and start "really learning and having so much fun".  She was most thrilled to report that she made a brand new best friend and that it will make kindergarten so much better.

Here is to a great year and an excellent start to Sydney's education!

Mrs. Busch...

Thursday, August 20, 2009

That is a name we will be VERY familiar with over the next year because that is Sydney's Kindergarten teacher.
Tonight we had a "Meet and Greet" with her and also a little scavenger hunt to find all the places they will visit throughout the school (library, gym, cafeteria, computer lab and music room).   Sydney was SO excited that she just wanted to stay for the rest of the night.  Monday can't come quickly enough for our little girl!
Each Kindergarten teacher has an animal/insect (like bear's or ladybug's) as their class mascot.  Sydney is a proud member of the BumbleBee class.  There are like 10 girls in her glass and just a few little boys so either they didn't show up tonight or they are seriously going to be outnumbered.  The teacher had a little cards made up for each kid with a message and a picture of herself so they don't forget what she looks like.
So the first day is just seconds away and my heart quickens with anticipation and a little sadness - I can't believe that my BABY is already to go to school.  But I do know that the look on her face tonight when she saw her classroom and all the other children was worth all the heartache I might endure.  She is ready to go and I would rather that than a screaming child as I walked away that first day!!

I of course forgot the camera in a mad rush to get out the door but thankfully I had my phone glued to my hip so I was able to get a couple of photo's.

This is Sydney under her name outside her class and with her Welcome Card from Mrs. Busch
And the lady of the hour - Mrs Busch.  Sydney hasn't stopped talking about her since we left the school.
Looks like we are going to have a great first year of school!!!!

Sopapilla's

This is a blurry dark picture but Casey is absolutely in love with Sopapilla's and this was such a cute moment - she was absolutely covered in the cinnamon, sugar and chocolate sauce and although she loved eating them being dirty was really freaking her out...

YAY!!!

So what do you guys think?  Adorable huh?  Jennisa really is amazing.  She captured everything I wanted... right down to the curls in Casey's hair!!!
Now it feels like MY blog.
Check back later - tonight is Sydney's meet and greet with her teacher and I will definitely have pics!

Redesign...

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Recently I have been trying so hard to find some type of background for my blog that matches my taste and looks great.  Of course I am to picky and nothing made me feel like it was "mine".  So I went straight to a professional.

Once Upon A Blog by Jennisa is the best in blog design.
I have waited for 2 months and it is finally my turn.  So after feeding her all my ideas she is hard at work on a brand new design for us!  Let me tell you what she has shown me - a little sneak peek - it is going to be SO CUTE!!!

So keep checking back because within the next week our blog will be all fixed up!

Straight from her mouth...

Saturday, August 15, 2009

This afternoon after a trip to Target and Hobby Lobby we were at our last stop - Walgreens.  Sydney decided she was "sick and tired" of shopping and she started bugging Casey like it was her job.
So here I stand in Walgreens waiting for them to REPRINT (AAARRRHHH) a photo they messed up with a screaming, hungry toddler and a VERY devilish 5 yr. old.
With the  "Mommy's going Crazy" look in my eye I told Sydney in a quietly terrifying voice (no need to get the nice old lady waiting in line at the pharmacy scared) that the rest of her day was doomed to cleaning her room up and staring at her amazingly well painted walls from her bed.  When she ripped her little wrist from my hand and whirled away from me and said, no actually screamed,
"Mom I am NOT your servant - you didn't just have kids to clean your house did you?
Of course I replied with a hushed
"Yes Sydney that is why daddy and I had you - so you could vacuum and do laundry"
And this was the the best part - she said
"Oh well can I also give you a massage boss?"

Seriously she is only 5!!!  At times I wanna look and see it she has an earpiece and people are feeding her these lines.  I work with grown men that aren't that quick witted!
I guess with Sydney we will not EVER have a dull moment around here!

"I'm Rich!!"

After Sydney's first tooth fell out we had to take the tooth fairy off the bench and get her in the game.  We told Sydney that the tooth fairy only worked on the weekends so that Daniel could be here for the fun and it didn't seem to bother her at all.
So Thursday night we sat down and made a little pillowbox to keep the tooth safe in.  Friday night Daniel was home so at bedtime she put the pillowbox under her pillow with mass amounts of excitement.
I must say I was stumped with what to give her from the TF.  I thought about what I got and considered inflation so I was about to slip her a $20.  Daniel was NOT having that.  He talked some sense into me and quieted the raging Princess within and we settled on a nice $5.  Which by Sydney's reaction was plenty!!!

This is first thing this morning when Sydney came and woke me up...
With her reward for having clean healthy teeth!  She thinks she is rich and for now we have her convinced that saving her earnings is the best option.  If she is like mommy though she will start itching to spend it VERY soon!!

Toothless Wonder...

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Sydney has had her bottom two front teeth loose for quite awhile and today when I picked her up from school it was pretty obvious that one of them wasn't going to make it through the night.

She was pretty nervou about letting us "YANK" it out of her head so we left her alone and she worked on it through dinner and right before bed she came to us and it was sticking straight out of her head.  Of course Daniel put on his Dentist gloves and went to work.

You can tell by the look on her face that she was SUPER happy about what was going on but she allowed it without much resistance.  After a couple of gross popping sounds (it made my skin crawl) her tooth was out and she was SO happy!

The tooth is in her hand She wanted to show it off.  I was shocked at how that tiny tooth caused so much bleeding!!!

Now to see what the tooth fairy brings...

My Favorite Room...

Sunday, August 9, 2009

Our bedroom was put on the back burner when we moved in because nobody went in there other than us?  Well we finally got to it this week.  We found the perfect bedding (thanks to Dawn scouring the JcPenney catalog for me) and it is done and we are in love!!
Before the room was just bland with no "theme", curtains and it felt cramped.
So to start we rearranged the room and switched the TV dresser to the bed wall and put the bed on the TV wall.  For some reason it opened the room up tremendously.
This is in the doorway looking in...
We painted the new bed wall and the wall into the bathroom a deep green which coordinates perfectly with the bedding.

We moved the chaise lounge from the far corner to right outside the bathroom door and it actually feels like a functional piece of furniture now. I already have my new favorite place to read.
There are still a few things to do in there.  I am going to use the green paint we have on the wall and some brown to paint "abstract art" on some stretched canvas that I bought at Hobby Lobby.  That way we have "art" that is a perfect match to our room.  I am also in the process of ordering some photos of the girls in black and white to blow up , frame and then hang on either side of the bathroom door.  Plus I need to find matching throw pillows that don't cost $40 a pillow - UGH!!!  It really never stops...

Are we there yet??

You know the place that means we can relax and enjoy this house rather than working in it to constantly get it where we want it...
Earlier this week we both took time off that was supposed to be for a trip to the beach but after evaluating how many home projects we had we decided to stay home and finish those up.  I'm so glad we made this choice!
First the TV downstairs was starting to go out (everyone looked like Smurfs) and we knew that having the part that was bad replaced and the labor cost would be almost as much as buying a new one so of course we opted for the new one - HEHEHE!
Here is a before and after...

This TV was a beast (55 inches and what felt like 200lbs) and we had already had to replace the lamp in it...  Not worth the cost of upkeep...
This is the sleek new addition to our home.
It weighs a whopping 52lbs and is 52 inches wide.  Daniel put it on a mount so that we can avoid little fingerprints.
We found the table in the weirdest furntiure store in the mall. It was all Oriental stuff with dragons and geisha's on it and then this.  Anyway I fell in love because now I have a place to put movies and all our cords are hidden.  Now If I could just talk Daniel into a Blu Ray DVD player...Hmmmm.
