We're Here!

Saturday, March 13, 2010

This morning we got up SO early and traveled to Utah - our very favorite place.  Christopher, Alisia and Kale drove in from Vegas to visit also.  The only thing missing is Daniel but he wasn't able to get time off work -BOOO!!!
This trip is really just to relax and have fun with the kids - so that is exactly what we are going to do.
When we got into Salt Lake it was cloudy and rainy but about an hour after arriving it was SNOWING and the kids might as well have been given the best gift ever!!  Nothing stuck to the ground in the city but we will be going up to Park City later in the week so we will definitely get to throw them into some snow while we are here.
Since Christopher, Alisia and Casey all have birthday's in April we thought what a better time to celebrate than right now?

Casey was so excited to have her birthday and now is "officially" 3 because we sang to her!

Ripping into presents was the highlight of her day!

Baby Alive - Yay!!
Another toy that talks so at 2 am when it says "I'm Hungry" I can get all freaked out.
Thanks Grandma!

Kale liked Mommy's new Rachel Ray pots!

Sydney needed to be rocked to sleep like a baby and Uncle Chris was just the guy to do it!

Casey and Kale playing DS together - They were fast friends!!!

Great State of Texas...

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Sydney is studying "Texas" in school and had to do an art project about why our family likes Texas...
This time I made her do the majority of the work and I think it turned out GREAT!

Sorry the pictures kind of stink but you get the idea!

The Artistic One...

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

I think Casey is the true artist in our family!
What kind remains to be seen BUT I'm leaning toward make-up artist!
Casey continually draws on herself BUT only her face!
Daddy sent her into the office to see me and she came screaming
"Mommy hugs and kisses for you"
and when I turned to get my sweet surprise this is the face that greeted me.

I LOVE THIS KID!!!

Roller Derby...

Monday, March 1, 2010

Daniel wanted to do something special with Sydney last weekend but not another movie so they headed out to the skating rink.  I had never thought about taking her but it is something we will be doing often because SHE loved it!
The funniest part is that Daniel said it is EXACTLY like when we used to go 17 years ago - right down to the weird old guy in cutoff jean shorts weaving in and out of the kids at warp speed.

Daniel took these pics with his phone but you get the idea...

I LOVE MY FAMILY!!

I Know, I Know...

I disappeared and there is no other reason that would do it justice other than the truth - We have been boring and unworthy of blog posts for the last month!!
After mom's visit we have truly just been taking it easy and trying to recover from a very busy Holiday season.
Here are a few things that have been going on at the Cobb House:

* Sydney is doing SO well in school and her reading and writing are getting better everyday.  She is also about to lose her 3rd tooth and already wants to talk about when she gets to drive - UUUGGGHHH!!
* Casey seems to learn something new on a daily basis.  She has the BEST sense of humor and always has us laughing.  She is also FULLY potty trained - NO DIAPERS!!!!!!
*I joined Weight Watchers in early January and have since lost 19lbs (YAY!)
*I also became a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  If for no other reason than because I LOVE their products BUT it seems the women at the girls daycare love them also so I have found a pretty large customer base and have my first workshop next weekend.
*Daniel is still my rock and the very loud voice of reason in my head. He is still in school and is SO close to getting his Bachelors.

And here are a couple of photos from the last month.

Sydney had to decorate a box for her Valentine's and this was our finished product!
Casey is our little ham!
How could you not love that face - try being mad at her for ripping the curtains off the wall or spraying air freshener all over the couch!

Celebrate...

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Sydney (and Casey) doing well in school is extremely important to us.  So when she received her report card today we thought it only appropriate to celebrate her outstanding "grades" and conduct with an ice cream cake.
Grandma is here so she grabbed a little cake at Baskin Robins and we surprised Sydney.

She was so excited and has committed to keep getting good report cards if it means she can have an ice cream cake every time (I'm sure it's only a matter of time until the request shifts to cash!)

Casey was so happy she got to "help" Sydney eat her "prize".

Sydney and Grandma after enjoying their cake...

Little Controllers...

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

While mom is here she is using my car and since she had to come get me at work we thought it would be nice for her to bring the girls into the tower to see where mommy works.   They thought it was so cool - especially the binoculars.
I didn't have a camera so I had to use my phone but I couldn't pass up how cute they looked trying to find the planes.

Really...

"I Kitty"

Yes "I Kitty" are the exact words I heard when I found Casey sitting in the pantry with a pen and a chocolate chip cookie in her hand... You can still see the crumbs from the stolen cookie hanging out on her chin. UUGGHHH!
But those big blue eyes and that sweet smile made me giggle and the anger faded quickly.
At least it wasn't a Sharpie!

A Whole New Level...

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Of course Sydney pouted like a champ (still does) but Casey - well I'll just say that Casey is a PROFESSIONAL.  Once she commits she sticks with it to the very end!!!
Bottom lip out, stone pose and complete silence - it really is an art for her.
The other day she was being a monster and was told to go to her room.
I hadn't heard anything for a while so I went to check on her and this is what we saw...
Mind you after peeking in and seeing this I had to grab the camera to capture it and she STAYED in the exact same spot while I ran around the house looking for the camera.

Bottom lip is definitely out and the "Please pity me stare"

So after telling her that she could come out of her room if she was ready to behave she decided that her acting for that 5 minutes had worn her out and she took a little rest on her bedroom floor.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is the extent of Casey's fits in the future but something tells me (possibly the way I used to act) that this isn't even the start of it!

S&C

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Thanks so much for the Xmas gifts Aunt Alisia, Uncle Christopher and Kale.  We love them and have tried to wear them everyday...
Oh and we ADORE the bracelets - so much in fact that mommy has had to hide them so we won't ruin them.
You guys are the best and we can't wait to see you in March!!!

BRRRR...

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

It isn't very often that it gets cold in South Texas.  For example on the news this morning they said that this week last year it averaged 80 degrees.
This year is a different story - in my car this morning it was a FREEZING (to us it's freezing) 28 degrees and it is only supposed to get colder the rest of the week.
Sydney overheard the weather man say "to bundle up" so when I sent her to get dressed she came out with her hat on.  Of course Casey couldn't be without a hat since Sydney had one.  So two hats, two coats and two cozy kids later I had a perfect picture opportunity of them.
Who knows the next time it will be cold enough to break out the hats around here.

Welcome 2010

Friday, January 1, 2010

It is SO hard for me to believe that it is actually 2010.
We had a VERY low-key New Years Eve here.  Daniel was at work so no partying on my end.  Sydney had Addie over for a sleepover and I think they were up later than I was.  According to Sydney they HAD to do real sleepover things - like pillow fighting.  Not sure where she learned that they were supposed to pillow fight.
New Years day we hung out with the Santore family all afternoon and their new daughter, Abigail.  (Sorry mom I forgot to take pictures!).

Once again 2009 was a very blessed year in the Cobb house.
We made it through another year with our health and more love than ever before.
I'm not sure what my resolutions will be this year.
Of course we are going to do the healthier living thing (like every year before - story of my life).  We want to run the San Antonio half marathon this year - so that will require a lot of our time and energy.  We want to continue doing the Dave Ramsey Plan and pay off the rest of our debt.  Personally I want to spend more time focused on the big picture and not worrying about the little things (this will be so tough for me but I do have a WHOLE year to perfect it).
So 2010 awaits us with all the mystery that 365 days can hold.  I just hope it doesn't fly by as quickly as last year.  I feel like we were just taking down last years Christmas decorations!
Happy New Year to you all - May it be your best yet!!!

30, REALLY???

Saturday, December 26, 2009

Yes today I turn 30 and I am not afraid to admit I am not happy about that.
I must admit that my twenties were exceptionally kind to me:
I married my soulmate, we moved to Texas, we bought a house, got a dog, had a beautiful daughter, got out of the Air Force, got civilian jobs,  had another beautiful daughter, bought river property, sold a house, bought another house and sold river property - you know among other little but still important things.
I can no longer blame my little mistakes or my VERY rare, yes I said rare - just go with it, tantrums on being a "baby".  Is it officially time for me to grow up?
The other day Sydney asked me how old I'd be on my birthday and I told her 30.  She oh so kindly told me that was old but at least I'm not going to be 100.
I hadn't looked at it from that perspective but she's right.  In the overall scheme of things I'm still young and I have SO much more life to live!  I don't know what my 30's hold for me BUT I do know that I am embarking on this journey with my husband and our children and that makes it slightly less scary.
We'll see what happens...
